Hi Jim:
Points taken.
We each do the things we prefer. I myself would not compare re-furbing
a BA or building a kit to buying a light bulb. Personally, I love
building kits, and doing re-furb and repair. I would rather spend
available time on the part of the process that I feel is most
rewarding. Anyway, I appreciate your input, as always.
PS..the LED subs from that site have been running w/o issue for several
years in all my Drake rigs now. A line, B line, TR7, TR4, TR3 and some
other classic stuff as well.
The days of finding solderable bayonet bases may be limited.
Please stop by my R-390A restoration project.

These drop-ins for a #47 or other types are less than $1.00 each. Why

1. ) I don't think there were any $1.00 drop-ins available when I made these,
and I would be leery of anything that cheap anyway.
2. ) I'm sure that I'm getting exactly what I want this way (see previous
comment about the red in the S-Meter).
3. ) Why does anyone build a kit, a construction project, fix up a boatanchor,
etc.? For personal satisfaction and for the ***FUN*** of it!!!!!
4. ) It's what Hams do.
I could say, "Why on earth would anyone buy something that they can easily make
themselves?"
