Peter, Marianne, and David,

Thank you all for your responses. Attaching individual permission statements to mediated deposits, either manually or automatically, seems to make sense. I was also wondering if anyone is using a separate database or content management system to keep track of such individual licenses. I guess it does not make sense to have a separate system set up aside from DSpace.

Marianne, when you mention a "text box on our submission form," could you tell me which text box were you referring to?

signed by the original creator. Super-admins, and configurably
collection/community admins will see this extra submission step.

Couldn't you scan them and upload them with the item keeping them
together? Just setting a restriction on the view similar to the
    existing license?

    Hi David,

We are thinking of a separate workflow for mediated deposits, in
which authors send us their publication lists, articles, etc. and
library staff check copyrights, create metadata, and deposit their
materials to DSpace. Authors therefore will not be interacting with
the DSpace web submission form, and we will need to collect and
    track their license agreement separately.

    there.

using DSpace 5.2 soon. For mediated deposits, our college legal
counsel has told us to use an online mechanism that an author will
record his or her name and date and click through to accept the IR
license agreement. If there are any institutions using such an
online system for collecting IR license agreements from authors, we
wanted to know what options/systems may be available for this
purpose, and also how license agreements collected online can be
stored for future reporting, analysis, etc.
