I'm certainly not opposed to that. The essential idea here is to give the dspace administrators (as opposed to just the sysadmin) the ability to do this from the UI. If Tomcat has access rights to add jobs to crontab / scheduled tasks, users could ask Tomcat to do that.

DSpace requires certain tasks to be run periodically. Currently, this is left up to the system administrator outside DSpace to run them via cron or Scheduled Tasks.
