Maybe also try the latest devel version of PDFBox - this seems to be an undocumented dependency in the latest PDFBox.jar, but it looks like they have made it an optional dependency (whatever that means) in the current dev version. If the latest dev version works I'm not sure what that will do (ignore encrypted docs?).
