No, uninstall is removing, a backup is a copy. That nomenclature stands for any 
operating system.

Linux experts, A question from a Neophyte: In Linux, is "the uninstall process" 
the same as making a backup for future restoration?
(In Windows it just means leaving a bunch of unusable stuff on your hard drive)
