I've got a Lacie 40x external CD and it's pretty annoying to boot from, but
if I use an external terminator, and make sure the drive is spun up with
the system CD already in it before starting up the powerbook(2400/180) then
holding down "c" seems to work - The method goes something like
Set up CD w/terminator and SCSI ID (I use 3)
Put CD in drive (this may require the machine to be started up to allow the
drive tray to open)
Restart machine w/"c" held down...
I had to mess around a bit to get mine to work, so I don't know what's up
with yours, but Ihope this helps
