I had RAMDoubler 8 running on my 2300c 56/4.3 running MacOS 8.6 and it
seems to be a little easier on the hard disk, while it offer twice the
VM I was using before getting it. I would never had tried to set the
Apple VM to 112MB for fear that the machine would have slowed down to a
crawl. But everything seems to work well so far with RAMDoubler, and I
no longer have this 57MB lost on my hard disk, although that this is
hardly perceptible with a 4.3GB hard disk.

BTW, since your saving your pennies for RAM, I will most likely put my
Duo 48MB expansion card for sale on eBay soon, to pay for the G3 I'll be
getting. So, if anybody is interested, I'm willing to entertain offers,
but know that I paid $197 for that memory card, and although I might let
it go for less, that won't be a whole lot less. Anyway, just want to
give a chance to a lurker Duo owner. But act quick, because I'll
probably take some pictures and put it for sale on eBay this weekend, at
the latest, maybe earlier if I have time to take the pictures. You need
to know that I had an initial problem with the RAM where only 32MB were
recognized. I did the solders from the 2nd PCB to the first one and it's
been working great since then. And yes, I take my Duo with me at work
every single day, mostly riding with me on my bike. I however didn't
ride this week as it's a bit too cold in the greater DC area. But the
memory is still fine.
