NAT (aka IP Masquerading) is a peice of cake with Linux (and I'm sure is
easy with Free/Open/Net BSD too). With Linux, IP Masquerading is part of
the ipchains firewall package. You just add a few lines to the config file.

Yes, it's extremely sweet. I've helped set it up on a friends LAN, and am
looking forward to doing it on mine as soon as I get ADSL service (8 months
and waiting...)
This is awesome for Macs because you just have to have a nice 'n' easy
ethernet connection to your Linux firewall/IP masq'ing machine, and all the
complexities of yourDSL / Cable connection are in that machine. When I'm all
set up, both my beatiful 2400c and my (still dead) Colour Classic will be
hooked up to the 'net that way.
