>I said I would update you regarding my missing Powerbook 2400c

The saga continues:

Dear listers:

Yesterday morning (Friday) I want to the FedEx Station at the Buffalo
Airport; the original shipping location. I presented the entire case,
with documentation, to a FedEx employee named Rosanne. She then tracked
the case on her computer and a computer in the office. Her conclusion,
"this is a total mess". It appears that in fact they had lost the
package for a day or more. Finally someone checked with the Sony repair
facility in Fremont and discovered it had been delivered there. It had
been picked up and returned to the Union City sort facility at 10:45 p.m.
Thursday.

Rosanne then reported that it was slated to be delivered Tuesday February
20th since I had shipped it two day and that 2 day shipping packages
received after 10:00 p.m. Thursday night are delivered the following
Tuesday. I told her that was unacceptable and she agreed. She entered a
demand for an immediate delivery.

She told me that the documentation reported that they had attempted to
call me several times but that the person answering the phone at my
office said that I did not exist and that my extension number did not
exist. I told her we had an automated attendant and if my extension was
entered the person would be taken directly to my voice mail 24 hours a
day. Otherwise an operator would answer during normal office hours.
Rosanne then called the number listed in their database and she reached
my voice mail. She reported this in the log.

When I asked her about the insurance coverage I had purchased she said
there was no record of it. However looking at my receipt she agreed that
I had purchased insurance. She entered that in the log and made copies
of my shipping receipt and payment receipt for her records.

She said she would call me by 1:30 p.m. that afternoon; before her shift
ended She then reviewed the entire action, which had taken 1 1/2 hours,
with the station manager, who had been tied up the entire time in a
heated argument who had won a court judgment against FedEx for loss of an
insured item. The couple was attempting to serve the manager with the
court papers. The manager refused to accept them. He said only the CEO
in Memphis could accept them. The couple said the court required they be
served at the location from which the item was shipped. When I left the
argument continued.

About 1:00 p.m. I checked FedEx on line tracking. On line tracking
reported that the package had been delivered to an address in Union
City-Not Fremont; the same location to which it had reportedly been
delivered Tuesday February 13, 2001. Before I could call Rosanne she
called me. She told me that the package had been delivered to DT & T in
Fremont. When I mentioned what on line tracking reported she said don't
pay any attention to it; it is often different from the information we
receive at our station. (don't ask me)

I then called DT & T and they confirmed that the package containing the
2400c had in fact been delivered. HOWEVER it appears that the package
had been damaged and that the computer would not boot.

This is another story. I'll write about it in the next installment.
