>I said I would update you regarding my missing Powerbook 2400c.
Dear Listers:
As I reported in the previous email FedEx did deliver the lost 2400c
Powerbook to DT & T on Friday. After hearing from the representative
from Buffalo Fedex at 1:15 p.m. EST that the package had been delivered
to DT & T I called DT & T. I called DT & T and they confirmed that they
had received the package that that they would work on it that day.
At 5:45 p.m. EST I called DT & T and talked with Brian. He confirmed
that the problem with the screen backlighting was, as I had expected, a
bulb that was burned out at both ends. He said that they had the bulb in
stock and quoted me a price.
Brian then went on to say that the computer had other problems. First,
the latch was broken and needed to be replaced and second that the hard
drive would not boot. He said that when they tried a work around the
professor would shut down. He said the hard drive would have to be
replaced.
I told Brian that the Hard Drive had been installed by Kevin at MCE has
June when Kevin installed the Interware G3 Processor. I said I would
authorize the replacement of the bulb and the broken latch, but that I
would have to call MCE about the drive since it was under warranty.
I then called Kevin Yuhas at MCE. I explained the problem to Kevin. He
said that the failure of the drive didn't seem right; he thought it
might have been dropped. However, Kevin said that MCE would cover it
since it was under warranty. He said that he could call Brian at DT & T
and arrange to send him a new drive. Kevin said there was no point in my
having to have the 2400c sent from DT & T to MCE to replace the hard
drive.
Before closing time I called DT & T to confirm that Kevin had spoken with
Brian. Brian was gone, but the another person confirmed that Kevin and
Brian had spoken and that the drive was being sent.
The next morning I visited the Buffalo Airport FedEx to report the
problem with the 2400c. The FedEx person read the record and agreed
FedEx had messed up. He said he would try to reenter the record to get
me a control number for the claims department. He was successful and
gave me a new control number. He said I would be contacted by the Claims
Department of FedEX. He said I should start collecting my documentation.
I then called Brian at DT & T and asked him to document the condition of
the Powerbook when it was received and why I had sent it to them in the
first place. He agreed to do so.
Through all this I am most impressed with Kevin and MCE. There was not
reservation or hesitation. Kevin just directly contacted Brian at DT & T
and arranged for a new drive to be sent. Kevin and MCE was very good
when I and the G3 Processor, drive and Cardbus upgrade done last June and
Kevin and MCE was even better now.
I'll update you of future developments
