Nancy,
In the process of setting up such a connection last year, I received
the following advisories from helpful Asante tech people:
1. >Our SCSI to Ethernet products do not work in the systems which have SCSI
>transfer rates greater than 1.5 MB/sec. Since we do not support this SCSI
>Controller IC within our software or hardware, or the increased SCSI data
>rates, our SCSI Family of products will not work at all with these systems.
2 >The EN/SC and the NuBus cards will not attach properly to the G4's
>10/100Mbps Ethernet port so a 10Mbps hub will be needed to connect
>either of >these devices to the G4. Sorry.
In other words, try using a hub rather than the crossover cable. It's
been working fine for me, linking my G4 to three Duo's and through
them to the HD's in their Docks as well. I should add that for the
past few days I've been having problems with my 2330C's connection,
but I'm pretty sure it has to do with a corrupted system file -- for
some reason Sherlock reports that the relevant PPP items, through
which I'd been making the link, are no longer present. Haven't had
the time to diagnose it further. My 2300 is still working just fine;
great for storing back-up files.
