Hello listers!!
This isn't really an answer. It is more of a question about the setup of this
hardware. I too have been having trouble getting a Micro EN/SC to work properly with
my Duo 280c and the ethernet at my place of employment. I also thought that there
might be an extension conflict and have used Extensions Manager to remove the various
drivers one at a time (ethertalk phase 2, Asante driver, ect.). I have enabled the
drivers in every possible combination and have, in effect, ruled out any kind of
extensions "conflict". I have actually gone back to the "all ethernet drivers
enabled" set using Extensions manager.
Anyway, I was finally able to get the Duo to "see" the network by starting up the
machine with the "Link Integrity" switch in the ON position and then changing the
switch to the OFF position. When I switch the switch, I get a message stating that
"My Appletalk Network Is Now Available" and the various "zones" of the net appear in
the "Chooser" control panel and the machines on the network begin to list as
available. This does not seem like it should be right but, it does work and I have
duplicated this sequence.
I don't know if this info helps but it has been my recent experience with a very
similar type of hardware setup. My question is, "Can anyone of you explain why my
setup may be acting this way? The net is NOT active if I startup with the switch in
the OFF position, only if I startup as described. I am sure this has something to do
with the mysteries of networking that I don't understand and I'm hoping someone out
there can clarify. I hope this helps.
