I agree with both opinons. Peter is right in that it would be killer to
have access to PCI slots in a tower case. Maybe they could make an
interface for those external PCI chassis that Steve uses as a reason to
limit the G4 to 3 PCI slots...

The drive bays aren't such a big deal because of external firewire/USB
devices. But then your TiBook ends up looking like the PC in the old
iMac commercial: Cables **EVERYWHERE!** I think that this would be too
much of a technical hassle for an admittedly small market. The WOW factor
alone would be incredible, though. Think of a TiBook (subnotebook version,
of course) that could dock up to a tower with CD-RW/DVD-RAM, Killer Video
card, Ultra SCSI LVD with a huge 10,000RPM HD, a zip, Cinema display,
external keyboard and mouse! Now that is a machine to lust over. Imagine
the PC world trying to play catch-up. (Of course, maybe no one would buy
one?

A port replicator a-la Dell would be sufficient for me. MacOS would handle
the hardware changes better, too, methinks. My Fiancee's Dell coughs and
hiccups every once in a while when swapping into and out of a
replicator. I think that the external tower case would be incredible, and
a huge wow facto, but will never happen.

Basically, PCCard slots eliminate the problem of no PCI slots (more or
less...) An external firewire PC Card slot would be killer, though.

I think that the G4 cube would be on my desk if it had two PCMCIA
slots! My only qualm is that it has **zero** expansion options.
