I love my 1400c/400MHzG3 running OS9.1. It will kick my old Wallstreet's
butt around the block without breaking a sweat. While it tops out at 64MB
RAM (128MB RAM Doubled) it still does quite a number on medium sized
PhotoShop images (300dpi CMYK for print not 72dpi RGB web, those are even
faster!) as well as zoom through Quark Xpress documents. A 51MB 184 page
Word 98 document (loaded with graphics) used to take 3:29 minutes/seconds to
open now does it in 1:28. It also took 2:20 to go from page 1 to page 184.
Now it does it in 16 seconds.

I can run iTunes and Rip CDs at 192kbps. I can check email while listening
to mp3 files. QuickTime movies don't do too badly either. Plus everything
seems just about right on the 11.3" screen. Almost the size of an iBook and
at the same resolution of 800x600.

Oh and I love the tactile feel of this keyboard. Anymore I spend 85-90% of
my time on the 1400 now since I got the Sonnet upgrade in mid January. It
used to be about 30% of the time and I have a G3 upgraded PowerMac for a
desktop machine.

While it won't win any design awards it still looks nice and while it's 1"
wider than a 2400 it's the same height while being 1.5" shallower (9" vs.
the 2400s 10.5"). I can live with the extra 1.7lbs I have to carry. Plus I
love the BookCover feature. I have a picture of my family in it.

Please understand, I love the 2400 series. I just hate seeing the very
versatile 1400 being sold short. I'm very satisfied with my 1400 and I've
got about $850 invested in it over the last 10 months. Plus I don't live in
fear of GLOD (green-light-of-death).

Yours just might be worth upgrading.
