I can fill you in on Paris. You should be able to handle using their AC just by changing the plug on your ac brick, phone lines have different plugs also. Paris has quite a few cybercafe's where you'll be able to log in as well as to get advice on local ISPs. The main lifestyle change in Paris is that you'll enjoy walking a lot just to sight-see and the food anywhere is terrific.
