I'm Spanish by birth but I grew up in Southern England and lived
there for many years before settling back down in Spain. I also
worked in Paris for a couple of years, but I've never been to
Australia. Therefore, I don't know if I fit the bill, but in any case
here goes:
As for macs, I've been using American-made PowerBooks and modems for
several years in those countries and the only things you need are
adaptors for the power source and the phone line sometimes. If we are
talking about 2400c specific information, FreePPP works much better
for me than Apple's PPP on MacOS 8.6.
I bought the Targus European connection kit from MCE and I've been
very happy with it. Madsonline sells a very compact connection kit as
well, but I've never tried that one. There are plenty of free ISP's
in any European country.
And if you want me to talk about general lifestyle changes, you won't
find many in Britain and you'll find plenty in France. But if you are
American and already spell travelling with a double l, you're on the
right way to pass off unnoticed ;-)
Contact me off-list if you want to know about my (free) eating-out
guide in Paris.
Cheers,
