I'm based in London, have been for the last seventeen (oof!!) years. It's
grey at the moment, often is, but it creeps up on you when you're not
looking and you find you've fallen in love with the place without realising.
As far as using your Duo goes, you should be able to get by just by
changing your mains plug ( I think), or I've got a spare mains adapter you
can use/have. There are a couple of good Mac shops here where you can get
lead for the phone lines (which are slow, incidentally).
London's a basically walkable place, but public transport is excellent too.
There is much to do that is free or cheap.
Lots of restaurants, pubs etc.. London can also be quite anonymous, some
would even say unfriendly. I think Londoners do tend to be reserved, but
not unfriendly.
I hope that helps
