Well, if the same plug has been used for 8 years (Duos
introduced in 1993) you can hardly say this is "YA"
new design. I wouldn't necessarily say it worked well,
either, since the internal connector has a tendency to
break away from whichever board it's attached to-- not
that the new one will necessarily be better. While the
iBook may not be thin enough to require a smaller
diameter, the Titanium is, and it doesn't make much
sense to use different parts-- once supplies are
exhausted I imagine the Titaniums will eventually ship
with the revised iBook adapter which doesn't have a
nub on the plug to interfere with the CD tray.

Madson makes an adapter plug which mates old adapters
(e. g., previous G3 and iBook which are also 45w) to
the new plug. It costs $20, but if you already have an
investment in additional adapters it will save you
money over buying new ones.

It may be the lighting, but in your photos the white
exterior is less tacky and cheap-looking than most
I've seen. At least, unlike iMacs and the previous
iBook, the part you look at while in use is a pleasing
metallic silver-- but I can't help thinking how sharp
it would look in graphite. Still, a surface which
easily shows fingerprints and scratches, as well as
seeming a bit slick, would seem to be an odd design
choice for something intended to be handled
frequently, especially by children.
