Thanks to Scott and Matt for replies to my queries
about OS, modem/ethernet, ram/speed doubler and web
browser.
I'd like to review an issue with the serial port and
modems. I think, operative word being "think," that
there were some issues about the speed the port could
be set for that would cause the port to bottleneck the
faster modems. Is this true? Can anyone tell me what
the heck I'm thinking about even if it doesn't concern
my 2300c?
And now for the other issue. If I do go to (x)DSL
what OS do I need to make it work. Will my 8.1 be
fine? Also, any suggestions for DSL modem? I heard
rumors that many brands were fraught with serious
problems - who has had a really good experience with a
DSL modem through a DuoDock Plus with ethernet.
Scott, is there anything bad about 8.6 that would give
me grief? What "niceties" in 8.6 do you like to use?
