This is from memory so not guaranteed 100 percent. Serial port will handle
approx. 220-240k/sec or about 4x a 56k modem. However, with compression
schemes modem data rate can approach this. But data over a modem is not a
constant flow. Essentially serial port can handle 56k with no problem.
Your real slowdown on the web with this machine (IMHO) is lack of video
processing power/video ram. The web is very image oriented today. Your
processor will be overwhelmed with data well before the serial port will
slow you down. Text oriented things like e-mail should be fine.

I've had dsl for a year now. I've only used 8.5.1 up through 9.1 on
it.(don't use the 2300 on it). If memory serves me there were issues with
Open Transport and DHCP prior to 8.5.1. Perhaps you could use 8.1 and just
upgrade to a newer version of Open Transport. Maybe someone else can flesh
this out a little better. Help please?
