That certainly may be true.  But I've never had to replace anything as a
result of this sort of thing.  Not in sixteen years.  My MacPlus is retired,
but AFAIK still functional.  I expect that all that's happening is that the
design margin is being consumed.  I don't doubt for a second that if you
have a power supply that's on the wrong end of the bell curve that you could
end up with a noticeably shorter lifetime.
