How about making new brackets out of a beer can? Can be easily cut
with ordinary scissors. While the beer can has a certain cachet, it
might make sense to run down something heavier. It's probably lying
around the house. Maybe an imported beer? An old Schlitz steel can?
AFAICR, the brackets are only a pair of bent strips of sheet metal
with a few holes in them. You should have the appropriate screws from
the old setup.
