Marc, thanks for the detailed instructions. I will try to take some photos
as I conduct my repair, so along with your instructions maybe we will have
something for the web site when I'm done. One thing though, I seem to
remember somebody working the wire through the conical thing without
splitting it open - I am going to attempt this - If I can pull the fray
through the conical thing and then work with the fresh wire beyond the tear
it will be a much cleaner repair. Of course this will eliminate a chance of
reinforcing the wire at the fail point with heatshrink tubing. Also I want
to see if I can work with the stumps of the existing wires by making a
splice - this will let me keep my lame soldering off of the board - I'll see
how much room there is. The only thing missing is the proper solvent to
re-weld the box closed.
