I just was thinking that the primary drain on the > PRAM/backup battery comes when the Mac is sleeping. If you want your PRAM battery to last longer (assuming you mean more months/years) then "condition" it from time to time, much like we do with the main system batteries in the Duo's, that are NiCd or NiMH. This should be good advice for any powerbook PRAM batteries which are NiMH, such as the 3400, 3500. I would guess that the 2400's PRAM battery is NiMH but maybe it is not.
