Which solution, the multi-line one? I think it's much better than the
single-line version.

There's even fewer space there (in the horizontal direction). Besides
that, the numbers refer to the displayed frame. Therefore, they belong
to the video display and should not be located anywhere else. The only
other option that would make sense is an OSD overlay *within* the frame
widget, but I don't know if that will work with Qt.
