David, I can't answer your direct question, but a comment. I lost my main PC in a lightning surge and took over my wife's XP unit (and gave her a new Vista PC). I added a dual serial port card also, since it had NONE. I wanted the true serial ports to be 1 and 2. In the PC hardware setup I noted that OFTEN, a port would say "in use" that I didn't think was possible/logical. I assigned the serial card to Com 1 and 2, and all the USB ports to what I wanted (3-8), regardless of what it said, and re-booted. I never found conflicts. Checking the PC hardware list after the fact showed all were assigned as I wanted after that. 73, Steve In a message dated 10/7/2008 5:36:58 A.M. Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:
Hello, I've just installed a dual serial port card into my PC however despite all my efforts to remove the previously installed virtual USB ports the software insisted on creating them as Com 9 and 10. Windows insists com 2 - 8 are in use (only com 1 and 8 actually are) so reasigning the ports doesn't work. Now for the question Dx4Win only shows com 1 - 8 or at least it does in my setup so how do I get it to show com9 and 10 in the drop down list box so I can select them? Do I add them to portmap or is this only for parallel ports? I realise a drop down list box that actually lists the installed ports in the PC would be too simple.
