I've just installed a dual serial port card into my PC however despite all

use (only com 1 and 8 actually are) so reasigning the ports doesn't work.

Now for the question Dx4Win only shows com 1 - 8 or at least it does in my
setup so how do I get it to show com9 and 10 in the drop down list box so I
can select them? Do I add them to portmap or is this only for parallel
ports?

I think you can right-click on My Computer and select Properties. Click on the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button and you'll see your hardware, including Ports (COM & LPT). Click the "+" to expand the list, then right-click on the port you want to change and select Properties. The Resources tab should allow you to change the port number to a lower (unused) one.
