There are hundreds of mail clients out there, everyone is different, but virtually all have a REPLY and a REPLY ALL feature. REPLY goes to the sender, REPLY ALL goes to everyone, which means the list too. So, what about the habit of people who "hit reply" and expect it to go to just the sender? Seems logical to me. But that is the point. What seems logical to one person doesn't always seem logical to the next. My opinion - the list is set up correctly, such that I have the choice of sending to all or just the author.
