Then I misunderstood you :-)

In that case, I do a cvs import with winCVS or the command line.

I don't think it'd be a good idea try to change IDEA into a full cvs
client: imports, checkouts and branch management are best done with a
specialized tool. 
Think if you want to see the graph of branch versions for a file ...
Idea is useless, sall that eman it's a missing feature?

And wincvs is free!
