P.S. If a number of us try this on a variety of operating systems and it works without introducing undesirable side effects, then Intellij could consider this for a default, but I'm not sure if all the IDEA supported operating systems' JVMs support the -Xincgc option.

Request from a colleague:  Is there any way to stop the (full) garbage
collection process from occurring while you are in the middle of
typing?  It is very frustrating when you're typing along, and all of a
suden everything freezes on you.  You have to stop and hope what you
have typed appears once the GC has finished, but as you notice the
freeze, you almost invariably type an
 error so you can't just keep on
typing and expect a whole paragraph of code to magically appear.

Having

the GC kick off when the keyboard has been inactive for a few seconds
would be much more manageable.
