You have less than a second here because you aren't garbage collecting much (35m to
34m)

Down here we are garbage collecting 30 megabytes.
How much memory do you have in your box? How many applications are running at the
time
you recorded this? I have found that unless I have the entire IDEA program in
physical RAM,
I get the long pauses, presumably because it has to swap to do a garbage collection.
(mark &
sweep across the heap).
I run with 1Gig of memory, and have never had a problem since I upgraded the memory.
Occasionally I'll get pauses that coincide with "synchronizing output �" down in the
lower left
status display.
Print up the performance meter to determine whether or not you are swaping when you
garbage collect.
