Mike Perhaps you could qualify this. What does the trash button do, if not control garbage collection in some way?
I also have my memory configured reasonably high. These are my current settings not that I actually understand them, and this on a machine running Win2000 with 512M RAM. SET JVM_ARGS=-ms128m -mx256m -verbose:gc -XX:NewRatio=3 REM SET JVM_ARGS=-ms16m -mx96m With this, I often notice that at about 124 of 126M the GC cuts in seizing all resources for about 30 seconds. This is with weblogic and our client Java application running external to Idea. My take on the garbage collection issue would be to (if it were possible) have all the garbage collection done at night, or perhaps on the weekends when I'm doing other stuff. What do I care if the cursor seizes up, if I'm at the beach at the time.
