If the rest of the eBox interface did not look so well finished I would say there was a BUG. But there cant be a bug for this!! can there? It has been frustrating me for over a week now. Reinstalling almost every day and trying again is actually driving me nuts at this stage. Ahhhh !!!
What can I do to get a simple router or gateway working. !?

Ummm... you did set up the default gateway and you did set it up on ebox DHCP server? It seems like your packets don't know what their default gateway is.

What you have to have in order to have (working internet connection):

1. external interface (any eth that connect to your router, adsl line, etc)
2. default gateway (that would be your external eth if you're using different subnet on your LAN, as you should)
3. in DHCP options, set your default gateway (probably "ebox")

If you can ping The Internets from the ebox machine but not from LAN clients, there's a chance that you didn't propagate default gateway correctly in your DHCP server settings.
