Mitch, I'm sorry this has become a desperation situation and wish I had a good answer for you. There are only two things I can think of that might cause these symptoms:
1) Some strange language/codepage mismatch. Are you using any non-English language or character sets anywhere? 2) The UEI toolkit isn't installed or enabled. If you haven't already done so, please recheck the troubleshooting directions at http://eclipseme.org/docs/troubleshooting.html. In addition, take a look at the information in Help -> About -> Configuration Details. Pay particular attention to the configured plug-ins section and make sure that eclipseme.toolkit.uei_1.5.5 is correctly listed. Hope something in here helps.
