Mike, don't get your shorts all tied up in a bunch over a matter of
terminology. That's like Sylvia Webb picking on me for not adding the
"-5" to ISO 15000. These kind of flames must be what Rich Legge is
referring to.

After all, we have George W. Bush saying "...there's rumors on the
Internets..."

I don't expect the President of the United States to know technical
details about the 'Net - or even what it's called. And after listening
to C-level executives for awhile now, there's no longer any surprise at
the awkward mixture of singular and plural. These are niggling details
that are beneath the dignity of POTUS. It's like knowing the names of
heads of state from Third World countries. Or Canada.

No. X12 is an ANSI accredited standards committee. (And it's X12, not
X.12). DISA has no formal relationship with ANSI, per se, and only
relates
to ANSI on behalf of X12 and it's other client organizations.

Old information, and no longer correct. The Pan American EDIFACT Board
no
longer exists.

Again, incorrect. X12 defines EDI standards in the U.S. This is done
internationally (not just in Europe) by UN/CEFACT, who maintains the
UN/EDIFACT standard.
