(More expensive THAN WHAT?  But that is just semantics).

VAN is an acronym... for Value Added Network.  Most of your quality VANs 
offer additional VALUE.. e.g., automatic archiving, restore service, audit 
and traffic rreporting and data conversions.

Those extra services are not free.  They either are, or are not, worth the 
extra cost to you.

I suggest you stop thinking in terms of "cost" and start thinking in terms 
of "value."
