Hopefully this isn't too off topic, but I am working with a company that uses
IBM's WebSphere as a middleware between SAP and the EDI system. For an
outbound
850, SAP kicks out an ORDERS idoc, and normally I would just take that idoc
format, map it to an 850 and I'm done. But with WebSphere in the middle, I'm
being told that they have to take the idoc, map it to XML and then I map the
XML
it to an 850. They are saying that WebSphere has no facility for simply
passing
through the idoc file as-is.
This seems terribly complicated and frankly I don't have much faith in the
people that are telling me this story. Are there any WebSphere experts out
there that can confirm or deny the idea that there is no way to simply pass a
file to a given destination without a mapping component?
Perhaps this isn't as off-topic as I though since with IBM's takeover of
Sterling, all the Gentran stuff might end up as WebSphere in the not too
distant
future!
