Earl,

I am not disagreeing with you regarding the high cost of standards and table
data, nor am I trying to defend DISA operating cost. But there are cost
associated with supporting the logistics of standards meetings. The question is
how to cover that cost.

My solution would be to take a page out of the way ebXML operated, adding to it
the use of collaboration tools that eliminated some, if not most, of the F2F
meetings. This would result in not only free standards but also open standards.

Sadly, especially for UN/CEFACT, participants enjoy the travel to destinations
they would never be able to go to, if it were not for those F2F meetings.

Klaus

P.S. Is it Friday yet?
