OK, now I'm thinking you need to explain the situation to whoever created this
mandate. Perhaps instead of a 200K threshold, you ought to be looking at X
number of PO's per period threshold. As Earl pointed out, you've probably
already spent enough time trying to do this to absorb any savings you're going
to get from sending one PO a month via EDI instead of paper.

Hi Earl

I do not have an option. I have a mandate I need to adhere. We need to use
EDI for any vender we spend more than 200K with, it is a EDI 820 mandate but if
we are going to trade 820's most times we also try and trade PO's except in the
case where the 820 is going to their bank.

Cheers
Ryan

Unless you are purchasing a HUGE number of licenses on a regular basis, EDI
with
Ingram (a computer distributor) or HP may not be appropriate.

If you are reselling these licenses and expect a regular volume or need quick
turnaround, then possibly.

If it's one PO per month, I think you are wasting your time ;-)

If they refuse, send ME the PO and I'll sell you the licenses ;-)
(After I put add <SALES> tag on the message)

Sorry I may not have been clear with my first post. We are going to be
purchasing software licenses for Microsoft software. We must issues a PO each
month for the software we use. Microsoft has given us a list of companies we
can buy the licenses from. Ingram Micro is one of them. Before we pick the
company to use I need to confirm that they truly have support for EDI. Lots of
time we are told oeYes we support EDI but there version of EDI is sending us a
PDF via e-mail.

HP is also on the list of companies Microsoft gave us. We setup an account
with them, signed up for their VAN only to find that the part numbers we need
to order are in a "different" system that does not support EDI at this time.

Cheers

Ryan

Ryan,
Why is your sales rep dealing with vendors? Shouldn't they be selling to
customers? Have you tried googling? Have you tried explaining to the people
at the 800 number that you are the customer and they are the vendor and perhaps
they can refer you to a different department, one that is interested in selling
whatever it is they sell? Have you mentioned this problem to whoever gave you
this number?

Would anyone have a contact at Ingram Micro that would be willing to
answer a few questions? We were given 1-800-616-4665 by our sales rep
but when we call that number they will not answer any questions without
us giving them an account number. We have not setup an account with
them because we need to verify their EDI support before we bring them on
as a vender. All we get from sales is "Unfortunately without an Ingram
account our EDI department cannot assist" I find it a bit nuts.

Cheers

Ryan
