What I have noticed in various similar threads on the mailing list (eg: moving from SVN to GIT, more platform/driver support in the repository) is this kind of discussion goes nowhere. In my opinion the reason is there is no official community leader who would say 'yes' or 'no' to any of the community suggestions and would encourage to implement them.
