Your comments raise some interesting thoughts regarding technology
adoption.

One may wish to read "Crossing the Chasm" by Moore and McKenna, which
delves into this subject matter rather deeply.  While it takes a
business/marketing perspective, I would argue that the general
principles raised relative to the adoption of "new thinking" are
applicable across a variety of domains.
