Benevolent dictators usually produce the best results, all things
considered. If Sun continues to make all spec's public and, in general,
continues to deal with 'partners' as they have to date, then competition
will be fair and vigorous. After all, Sun isn't in business for nothing.
They have stockholders that require a return for their investment. An
executive that proposed continual publication of very useful spec's without
implementing any of them for commercial purposes wouldn't be an executive
for long.
