Do you understand the difference between an operating system ( MS Windows,
Linux, Sun Solaris ), an application/enterprise platform (j2ee,.net), an
application server ( j2ee=WebLogic,JBoss,WebSphere & .NET=MSFT ), and a
development language (C,C++,Java,C#,VisualBasic)?

Either the answer to the above is 'NO' or you are not stating your question
properly.

But where I am puzzled is why would one user chose to use Linux OS in
conjuction with a Z OS on a mainframe for example when both are open source.
Is it because a Linux distribution will come with all the stuff (apache etc)
while the Z OS is bear apart from the core functionalities and that the user
will have to buy websphere to do all the rest, while Linux OS is an all in
one proposition?
