In commercial installations where much of the equipment is racked we'd occasionally find a dead cat or rat hanging on a cable or on the floor underneath. They either chewed or they climbed a cable and their claws penetrated the insulation of a wire carrying mains voltage or HV from some other source.
Of course puppies love to chew on anything chewy.
