I will answer all the helpful questions below. What I still don't understand is that the logger program can "listen" to the K3 (it knows the frequency and mode) and "talk" to the K3 (will change freq. when I click on a packetcluster spot). Yet still no Comm with K3Util for some reason. On to the questions.
The computer is plugged in. I have tried two FTDI adapters and one Prolific. All seem to work with the logger but not the utility. There is no P3 or LPbridge involved. It does NOT pass the K3 utility test (with exception below). It keeps trying to connect at all speeds without luck. The K3 is at 4800 for what it is worth. Without passing the port test I am not surprised to see all question marks listed when I look at the Firmware tab. Uninstalling and reinstalling the Utility did not help. Dick's other suggestion gave me a confusing result. Even though I "know" (based on the working logger program, perhaps a faulty assumption) the K3 is on Com10 at 4800 bit/s the Util can't find it there. At his suggestion I tested all the other ports that show up in the drop down window. They were Com 3, 10, 11, 17 and 18. K3Util thinks it is connecting to the K3 on Com 3 at 38400 bit/s as indicated in the Port tab. When I then click on the Firmware tab it still has ??.?? listed for all firmware versions in my K3. I also noticed that the terminal tab is greyed out and not working so I suspect the Util is not really communicating with the K3. Another suggestion that just came in is to Uninstall all the port drivers in Win7 device manager and reinstall them. Not something I am looking forward to but can try. I feel I will fix it or break it real good trying that. I am still confused why the logger works and Util doesn't. Thanks for all the suggestions. ----- 73, Joe, W8JH K3 1713, KPA 132 -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/K3-lost-comm-with-K3Util-tp7559310p7559320.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
