I don't recommend that you follow that suggestion!  I've never fixed a comm port
problem by doing that, and I've written and used comm port applications for
years.

If your display indicates that the K3 is connected, it is.

What is your logging program?

Try disconnecting and closing your logging program and try it without it
running.
