I have this exact setup and used it with success in the CW SS contest.
Here's what you need to know once you have the K3S talking to N1MM:
On the K3S, navigate to the 'PTT-KEY' Config option and set it to
'rts-dtr'. Leave VOX turned off.
In N1MM:
with the port to match your K3S and SOxx set as desired, then:
N1MM will send PTT and CW via the USB port. I have a K3 (not S) but the
only difference in this case is your radio has a built-in USB to serial
converter.
