Julian, I set the power by double clicking in the software. I made no changes to the config settings so this was definitely a software created change.

This happens to me sometimes, too. I find that the KPA3 menu setting has been set to Bypass. You have to go into the menu and switch it back to Nor. It's interesting that you associate the problem with using KComm. Did you set the power to 5W by double-clicking the shortcut? Perhaps setting the power level by software command causes the problem? However I quite often set the power to 5W using this shortcut and I certainly do not disable the PA every time. ----- Julian, G4ILO.
