Anthony, it was far worse than that - lots of newspaper articles, editorials and letters contained outright LIES. Like for example, "STV would transfer my vote to someone whose election I oppose". That can never happen with STV, but it didn't stop the lies being spread. > It was stupid, and generations later BC is going to regret > what they passed up. Yes, indeed, and BC is going to regret it for the next two decades until they get the chance to consider electoral reform again. For many decades, the election results from Canada and its Provinces have shown everything that is wrong with FPTP in single-member districts. Along with the lies, there was some misinformation from the misinformed. And sadly, some who should know better, just do not begin to understand how a contingency voting system like STV really works.
