With KDE4, it will probably have to be Plasma based.

I think the notification area is the appropriate place for something
like this. Perhaps, in the future, an LIRC plugin for Elisa can handle
this task. The thing to consider is that many people will run Elisa full
screen and so the notification area will not be accessible. Further
more, UMC may not even include a Desktop Environment and so there not
_be_ a notification area.


I think you're wrong because I don't think every people have a desktop only
for a media center. It will be great to have some packages and install UMC
with synaptic on a desktop station.

The UMC project will also improve others tools, like lirc. So we must'nt
consider only UMC, because these tools are used with other apps. What do you
think ?
